Like 17.7 million American women, I have been raped.
Like 73% of survivors, I was raped by someone I knew and trusted.
Like 50% of survivors, I was raped in my own home.
Like 40% of survivors, I reported my assault to the police.
Like 94% of survivors, I never saw my rapist spend one day in jail
Not because there was a lack of evidence, but because I was too ashamed to take the stand.
I was wearing sweatpants and had not been drinking. I was not walking alone down a dark alley in a bad neighborhood. I followed all of the “rules” for not getting raped.
Stop teaching women how to avoid being raped; Teach men to not rape

The problem with that kind of logic is that even if you “teach” people not to do something, there will still be offenders.  It’s like teaching someone not to murder.  Sure, the vast majority of the people will not murder anyone, but the few individuals will, and most of the time those individuals aren’t mentally stable to begin with, so there is little point.  Just like it isn’t your fault that you were raped, it is not my fault that you were raped, either.  It is the rapists and only the rapists fault.  No amount of “teaching” will ever correct something like that.  The blame lies solely with the individual rapist, not men, or women.
